Better by design
Often the frames I am most pleased with, are designed and conceived by the
customers themselves. Artists particularly, can have a keen sense of colour
co-ordination and balanced proportions, from which I am only too pleased to learn.
Romsey artist Lynne Reaves asked me to frame a painting using a relatively wide natural wood moulding together with a wide white inner "slip" frame. The result was bold and striking, and I felt it worked very well with Lynnes lovely landscape.
Lynne who has a has a unique style, with use of collage and mixed media, is exhibiting her work in the Rum's Eg gallery, Romsey, until the 12th January.

My neighbour and talented artist Jamie Cowie-Shaw had a clear idea of what he wished to achieve using painted and waxed ash wood, with a deep bevelled mount that complemented his work handsomely. Jamie's line and wash paintings of local landmarks are being exhibited at Waterstones bookshop in Salisbury High Street, until January 5th. |
