Better by design

Often the frames I am most pleased with, are designed and conceived by the customers themselves. Artists particularly, can have a keen sense of colour co-ordination and balanced proportions, from which I am only too pleased to learn.
Romsey artist Lynne Reaves asked me to frame a painting using a relatively wide natural wood moulding together with a wide white inner "slip" frame. The result was bold and striking, and I felt it worked very well with Lynnes lovely landscape.
Lynne who has a has a unique style, with use of collage and mixed media, is exhibiting her work in the Rum's Eg gallery, Romsey, until the 12th January. www.lynnereeves.com

My neighbour and talented artist Jamie Cowie-Shaw had a clear idea of what he wished to achieve using painted and waxed ash wood, with a deep bevelled mount that complemented his work handsomely. Jamie's line and wash paintings of local landmarks are being exhibited at Waterstones bookshop in Salisbury High Street, until January 5th.
